Leila is just the sweetest, most loving little girl!  She smothers your face with kisses and loves to be held in your lap for petting .  She deserves a life full of love and hugs, dog bones and long walks! 

During her initial veterinary examination,  it was discovered that this tiny pup everyone thought was about 12 weeks old was really about 5 or possibly even 6 months old and had a stage 5 heart murmur!  Further examinations by veterinary cardiologists revealed a severe congenital heart defect.  Leila was diagnosed with Valvular Pulmonic Stenosis  and had surgery - a procedure called a "Balloon Valvuloplasty" to correct this disorder, thanks to the generosity of ASR supporters with  a surgery fee of slightly more than $3000. Unfortunately, although the surgery was a success, in a short period of time the tissue had regrown and no there are no further surgical or medical options.

Leila receives a daily medicine called a beta blocker and has a periodic check up from a cardiologist inducing an echocardiogram to check for any changes in her heart.

We will do what it takes to help this girl to live as normal a life as possible.  Leila is in her foster home and loving it! She loves her big, big German Shepherd foster brother and foster sister - and enjoys trying to get the upper hand - always from both!  Her foster mom reports that aside from tiring easily, Leila is a typical playful and loving puppy - with a cute personality...and she is waiting for her forever home.
