Max's Medical FundAll Shepherd Rescue
WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! Thank you to the many wonderful donors who have contributed to Max's Medical Fund - he will now be able to have his surgery as a result of your generosity! For those following Max's story, his surgery will not be scheduled until later this year due to upcoming events in his foster family's lives this fall and Max's post-op recovery needs. We will post updates to Max's profile regarding his surgery as we know more. Thanks again to all who contributed - we couldn't be more appreciative of your kindness!

Max is a 3 1/2 year old GSD currently being fostered with All Shepherd Rescue (ASR) while he is patiently waiting to find his forever family. After recently being evaluated by a veterinary orthopedic specialist, Max was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. While there are multiple treatment options available to mitigate the effects of hip dysplasia , the recommended treatment for Max (based on multiple factors) is a Total Hip Replacement (THR). A single THR is estimated to cost between $6,100 - $6,400 which includes the pre-operative workup and the actual surgical procedure. These funds are not currently available within ASR’s operating budget which provides for routine vetting, vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures. Currently, Max has exhibited some limping in his left hind leg and in his shoulders as well, likely indicative of a compensation injury related to the poor condition of hips. In order for Max to have surgery, ASR must first raise the funds. Here is a little about Max from his foster mom:
"Max is a super playful boy who doesn't understand why he can no longer play like he wants to. Some of Max's favorite things in life include fetching his ball, playing with all of his canine friends (which he has many!), Frosty Paws or treats of any kind, and receiving belly rubs :-) Since Max's diagnosis, we have limited his activity to leash walks to prevent causing him anymore discomfort or injury, but he is definitely not happy with his new routine. Every chance Max has, he grabs a ball or a toy and tries to entice us to throw it for him. We are really looking forward to the day where he can run around the yard again and be the happy, playful boy he wants to be!"
Many thanks to all who have contributed to Max's Medical Fund and
