Summer is a young Australian Shepherd/Dutch Shepherd mix who is affectionate, curious, sweet and playful.   She is in foster by MAS Rescue/Mary's Mutts and is now looking for her forever home.

She is a great pup and will make a loyal companion. She is her foster’s mom shadow in the house and loves playing with the two male dogs.

She already knows some basic obedience commands as SIT, COME, and CRATE (she goes into the crate).

True to her Australian Shepherd heritage, she has strong herding instincts, so a home with older children is recommended.  She is being fostered in a home with two older male dogs. She is fine with them and gets along with other male dogs, however, true to her alpha female status, she is constantly trying to herd them and  give them neck nibbles.

She has not lived with children but children have come to the foster house and she has not reacted negatively towards them; she just seemed a little unsure at first. A home with older children is recommended.

She has a friendly disposition and warms up to all people nicely. She would love hikes, maybe agility, or herding classes.  However you choose to engage with Summer, she will excel because she is motivated to please you.

Summer will thrive in a home with a large back yard, or a farm, and one without any cats or small children.  Ideally she'd be the only dog in the household. The very best situation would be a home that has a flock of sheep or a herd of cows for her to showcase her very best herding abilities!

Summer loves her people.  If you have lots of love to offer and want a family member or companion for an active lifestyle with lots of walks, hiking, running, playing, and training, Summer is your girl.
