Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.
Hi there! My name is Braun - and that is a german word for Brown. I guess that is what they named me when I came into the shelter and they saw a brown dog. Maybe they thought that a sort of German Shepherd looking nice boy like me who did happen to be mostly brown needed a cool name. Hey, I kind of like it and I hope you do, too! :) My shelter ladies loved me - and I loved them, but they said that I needed to move on to find a permanent home - and it would be way better than the shelter. I can't wait! I am not very old and I do have a lot to learn. I am friendly, I like other dogs.....not too sure about kitties - but I did leave them alone at the shelter...Now I am not saying that if there was one right here in front of my nose and it took off I would not give chase. Hey chase is fun! I love to play and would love a home that would teach me everything I need to know to be a "good boy". They say I need at least basic training...Is that anything like Boot Camp? If my person would come along and help, I am sure it would be fun. Braun's foster mom says that Braun is "awesome!" at Frisbee! Are you looking to compete in frisbee throwing or just want to hang out at the beach? Braun is your dog! UPDATE: Braun is continuing to shine in his foster home! Here is the latest on Braun! Braun is curious about everything we do and enthusiastic about doing anything. He has endless energy, but also loves to cuddle in my lap. Although he has no training for manners, he’s learning fast. He came knowing “sit”; he’s learning “down” and how to walk nicely on a leash—though he doesn’t pull as much as some of my own dogs! Braun sits nicely in a line up of 4 dogs to get a treat and takes them gently. He is an awesome catch and he can even catch a small treat that has whizzed by him already by turning in half—he’d make a flying disc dog champion—no doubt about it. With some basic obedience training and the love he craves, he’d make anybody a great companion. He would be a wonderful jogging/cycling partner, too, but he seems also contented with a couple of neighborhood walks a day. He gets along great with our 3 dogs and with our cats. Braun will bark at things going on in front of our house, but he’s not particularly noisy; I think he’d do ok in an apartment, being a mid-sized model. I think he’d be great with older kids, as he’d likely knock over a small child without meaning to—he’s fast! Unlike many fosters, Braun is no flight risk—he wants to be with us. He eats and sleeps in his crate without complaining and he’s housetrained. He’s still young, but he’s not “all grown up”, so if you are looking for an easy going, all around “dog” whom you can include in all parts of your life—Braun is for you.
